Victor Kent

For an unknown reason, the albino eleven baby was abandoned in a forest, shortly after birth.

A small pilgrimage of human monks serving the god Corellon Larethian found the small creature wrapped tenderly, but no parent was found, even after a thorough search of the area lasting a few hours.

Assuming this as a gift from their beloved god, the four monks eventually made their way to a small town in the South of Myr and constructed a small shack of a church, but a church nonetheless. Each of them reveled in the servitude of their god, but each secretly waited for their turn to look after the small oddity.

In time with a small following of converted to look after and improve the church, they moved on and repeated the process. After several months, though, they all decided they needed to name the small child. Early on, they saw the spirit of a warrior in the child’s eyes, so Victor, short for Victory, was their agreed upon choice.

Deciding on a surname, however, was not as easy. The immediate choice was to name the child Larethian, but what if he turned out not to be religious at all, or chose to follow another deity? He’d be in an very awkward situation. One of the parishioners suggested one evening after a service, to take a letter from each of their names. Loren Koenig, Alix Evans, Aymee Nolan and Krynn Thomas each gave the child a letter from their names, K, E, N and T.

Victory Kent not had a name. Once he was old enough to decide for himself, he could decide on a middle name, if he chose.

As Victor aged, so did his caretakers, although not as elegantly as Victor. Even though the monks were each in their 60’s and Victor in his 40’s, victor was still a child by elven standards, and children have a tendency to have fits of emotion. Victor wanted to live to the potential of his name while wielding a sword. He didn’t know that he’d soon get his wish.

Still on their pilgrimage to spread the word of Corellon, there was one particularly obstinate town. Despite being followers of Cyric, the faithful four thought just at least few would take interest in the word of Corellon, but not a single one would have it.

While spending the night at a non-descript inn, the more militant followers of Cyric sought to purge the word of Corellon, however necessary. Victor would finally have his chance to prove his worth with a blade.

Outside the inn, Cyric’s Lot gave the innkeeper a simple ultimatum: deliver them to the room of the heretics, or see the inn as ashes. Valueing his investment, he handed them a key and left for the evening, ushering his staff out with him.

Victor’s alert ears gave away the approach of the now enemy and he quickly woke his parents up. Preferring a non-violent method to the obvious alternative, the monks all stepped forth to be greeted with bottles and rotten fruit being smashed as they hit the patient four and surrounding area… in the background, Victor seethed with anger. His loving parents had done nothing wrong to the followers of Cyric, why couldn’t they just open their eyes and see the benefits of such a loving and powerful god? Interrputed from his thought, Victor caught sight of Mother Krynn being threatened with a knife.

Victor could take it any longer. He was tired of his parents being threatened, all for a god that didn’t seem to offer anything substantial, at least by his perception. With Krynn’s life hanging in the balance, Victor drew his sword and charged his mother’s assailant. Catching him by surprise, it was a simple kill.

Such things have been known to take a simple demonstration and turn it into a bloodbath. Seeing this about to happen, Krynn stood between Victor and the crowd, but seething anger and fresh bloodlust betrayed the young warrior’s vision and his mother was cut down, as were the mostly unarmed crowd.

Looking satisfied after coming out of his frenzy, turning to see his mother slain on the ground, his anger quickly resurfaced. Cyric’s Dogs must be hunted down! Then he realized something… something not right. His other parents were shielding Krynn’s fallen body… from… him?

It took him a few moments, but he realized that he must have been the one that did it. He dropped his sword and stepped to look after her, but Father Alix immediately stood in Victor’s Path.

“Victor! Do you realize what you’ve done?”

“Father Alix, I was just trying…”

“Trying or not, you have killed one of your mothers!”

It never occurred to Victor that is was possible for his parents to die. Yes, he saw them age, but it was just something that couldn’t happen… right?

“What do I do, Father Alix?”

“You must let me handle this, Son. I will talk to the people and make them understand. Then I will bury your mother. Return to the City of Fenton. I will find you at our church there.”

“Father, I wish to see mother buried and…”

“No Victor! You will do as you are told!”

Father Alix reached into a pocket and pulled a small pouch of coins and tossed it at Victor’s feed, “Take these and go now. If you’re lucky, you can make it out of this town before the survivors can get help, and I will calm them.”

Victor stood, unmoving, unsure what to do. He took a step toward his mother Krynn, forgetting Father Alix was in the way. Seeing Alix take the classic combat stance known as Jugotai, Victor realized his own father meant to do him harm, if he didn’t leave right now. Dropping his sword, Victor took flight and left the small town.

Through tears, Victor swore to make it up to his mother for slaying her. He would promise in front of Father Alix that he’s serve Corellon Larethian for all his days… until he heard the screams… screams of his two remaining mothers, and his father behind him.

Knowing now that he had no living parent, noone to answer to, he returned to the town and dealt with Cyric’s Dogs, slaying every man, woman and child, giving the innkeeper special attention, saving him for last.

Victor, no longer with a last name for he had no parents to represent it, was now an evil murderer. He especially hunted those who bore Cyric’s symbol, though any would do, really, depending on his mood.

Murdering and pillaging was the order of every day and the albino elf known only as Victor was one of the most feared in Myr’s Southlands.

End part one.
